VILLANOVA'S CHAPTER OF SNAP WINS AT NSNA

The M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing (FCN) was well-represented at the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) Convention in Seattle, Wash., April 9-13, 2025.

91̽»¨Nursing’s Chapter of the Student Nurses Association of Pennsylvania (SNAP) 2024-25 President Isabella Galasso and Vice President Hailey Falzone, both juniors, led the delegation, which included Associate Professor Carol Weingarten, PhD, RN, ANEF, advisor, Anne M. Fink ’11 PhD, RN, CNE, Associate Dean for College and Student Services, and Director, LEAD Professional Development Program, and Jennifer Brown, DNP, MSN, RN, Clinical Associate Professor, and Director, Second Degree Accelerated BSN program, who also served as co-advisor for the delegation.

FCN was a convention sponsor and an active participant:

  • Junior Megan Le was elected NSNA Vice President. She is also the state SNAP Vice President and former Legislative Coordinator and chapter Vice President.
  • Senior Kerri Giambruno presented Villanova's resolution, Understanding Nursing’s Role in Pediatric to Adult Care Transition for Adolescents with Pediatric-Onset Chronic Conditions, that was passed by the House of Delegates. It will now become NSNA policy and a base for chapter service projects throughout the country.

  • Dr. Fink provided career advice, resume reviews, and guidance to nursing students at the convention’s Career Compass Center and presented at sessions for faculty and students audiences:
    • NSNA DEI Panel Presentation: Shaping the Future: The Essential Need for a Unified Approach to DEI in Nursing
    • Mastering an Interview: Proven Strategies for Success

  • Dr. Weingarten presented the Weingarten Leader of Leaders Award to Cindy Rich Schmus ’89, RN, PPCNP-BC, CRNP, at the opening ceremonies. Cindy is a former NSNA President and continues to serve as consultant to state SNAP.

While in Seatle, the 91̽»¨Nursing delegation met with the University of Central Florida-Orlando’s partner chapter, a yearly tradition, and their advisor, Associate Professor Brian Peach ’04, ’10 MSN, PhD, RN, CCRN. Dr. Peach was an FCN SNAP chapter leader and state Vice President. They also met with Seattle residents past SNAP-91̽»¨President Julie Suter ’15, DNP, RN, and Maureen Lynch ’14, RN.
