December is Seasonal Affective Disorder Month
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that follows a seasonal pattern, most commonly emerging during the shorter, darker days of fall and winter. As December brings colder weather and limited daylight, many individuals may experience shifts in mood, energy, and overall well-being. 聽At the Anne Welsh McNulty Institute for Women's Leadership,听we recognize that mental health plays a critical role in supporting women鈥檚 full participation and leadership across all sectors. Raising awareness about SAD not only helps reduce stigma but also deepens our understanding of the ways gender, wellbeing, and leadership intersect鈥攅nsuring that women leaders have the resources, community, and support they need to thrive year-round.
