Engineering a Better World: The Kinsley Foundation’s Gift to Villanova

The College of Engineering is proud to announce a $1.5 million gift from the Kinsley Foundation. This generous investment will ensure the continued growth and impact of Villanova’s Sustainable Engineering program by supporting visionary leadership, advancing research and expanding learning opportunities for students.
In recognition of this gift, 91̽»¨will name the Kinsley Living Laboratory and Rooftop Terrace in Drosdick Hall, the new state-of-the-art home of the College of Engineering. Spanning nearly 1,800 square feet, the Kinsley Living Laboratory and Rooftop Terrace serves as a cutting-edge research and teaching space, while also providing a stunning venue for small campus gatherings. The terrace features advanced instrumentation, including water reuse systems and real-time climate-monitoring technology, reinforcing Villanova’s commitment to research, teaching and scholarship.
The Kinsley Foundation’s gift will endow the directorship of the Sustainable Engineering program. In addition to helping to attract and retain top leaders for this dynamic program, the endowment will ensure that this leadership role is permanently supported, enabling future directors to enhance curriculum development, launch new research initiatives and expand outreach efforts.
The directorship is currently held by Bridget Wadzuk, PhD. A distinguished researcher and educator, Dr. Wadzuk is a leader in water management and stormwater system design. She also serves as the Edward A. Daylor Chair in Civil Engineering and associate director of the 91̽»¨Center for Resilient Water Systems. Her work has influenced both policy and practice, including shaping stormwater initiatives for the Philadelphia Water Department.
The Kinsley Foundation’s investment will enhance the student experience by bringing leading experts to 91̽»¨for seminars and supporting student participation in national and international conferences. Additionally, it will seed new research initiatives that allow faculty and students to pursue innovative ideas and secure external funding.
This gift also supports Espiritus Nova: The Campaign for 91̽»¨University and advances the campaign’s goal to expand research and hands-on learning opportunities for students and faculty. By investing in research and academic excellence, the Kinsley Foundation will empower generations of students and faculty dedicated to developing engineering solutions that serve society.
The Kinsley Foundation is a family-led organization devoted to strengthening communities by supporting natural land and historic preservation, the arts, animal welfare, education and community development. Patrick Kinsley ’83 CE, a proud 91̽»¨alumnus and board member of the Kinsley Foundation, is helping extend his family’s legacy of giving through this meaningful investment in the College of Engineering.
