As with most other VSB majors, it is important to begin thinking and planning the study abroad process early. Early planning will allow students to have a firm understanding of what can be taken abroad and what needs to be completed on campus.Ìý

 It should be noted that  first-year VSB students cannot study abroad (with the exception of the Global Citizens Program), and students must meet prerequisite requirements for their overseas institution.  

 Tell your academic advisor that you are interested in studying abroad at each registration appointment. Together, identify the best terms to go abroad, based on the courses in your four-year plan.Ìý

Some things to consider for ManagementÌýmajors:  

• You canÌýtake up to two MGTÌýcourses abroad with the remaining courses potentially fulfilling other major, minor, core requirements or free elective credit.

• MGT courses often cross-list with other VSB majors and minors – like international business for example.

• If you are interested in pursuing a second major or minor, you should consult with your Clay Center advisor to understand the implications. 

Search the OEA Course Approval History databaseÌýto select from more than 3,000 study abroad courses that have already been pre-approved for liberal education requirements and a growing list of technical courses.

The Course Approval History database is not all-inclusive and students can work with an OEA advisor to submit additional courses for review.

Don't forget - VSB has a list of policies and limitations specifically focused on study abroad. Make sure you're aware of these as you plan your overseas experience.

Study abroad opportunities are not limited to formal instruction. Consider taking advantage of the uniqueÌýresearch, internship and fieldwork opportunities available in different regions of the world. This not only expands your personal and professional network, but gives you critical intercultural skills as well as direct hands-on experience.

It is important to plan ahead as it is not uncommon for scholarship deadlines to occur much earlier than a 91̽»¨or program application deadlines.

There are many scholarships available for students through 91̽»¨University, our partner programs and other external sources, like the US Government. The OEA can help students with the scholarship search and application process. If a scholarship is found outside of the OEA scholarship page, students should have it reviewed by the OEA to determine if it is a viable option.
